Crazy Kim Jong-un's latest missile launch taunts Japan amid nuclear blast fears
The despot regime brazenly fired a ballistic missile from a submarine off its northeast coast in the Sea of Japan today.
Japanese media has since said that several missiles were blasted in their direction.
The launch, which saw missiles fly for a "few minutes", took place near the North Korean coastal town of Sinpo where analysts have detected previous ballistic missile activities.
"North Korea launched a projectile which was believed to be a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) at around 6.30pm (9.30am GMT) in the East Sea (Sea of Japan) near the northeastern port of Sinpo", a defence ministry spokesman said.
"We are keeping close tabs on the North Korean military and maintaining a full defence posture."
Relations between Japan and North Korea are comically dreadful.
The tyrannical country kidnapped Japanese citizens in the 1970s and 80s and its nuclear programme blatently ignores diplomatic agreements.
Just 1% of Japanese people are feel "positive" about North Korea – according to a 2014 BBC World Service poll.
In recent weeks the dictatorial nation has let off a slew of missiles and artillery shells into the sea in an apparent protest against US and South Korea military drills.
There are also grave concerns among South Korean experts that North Korea is planning its fifth ever nuclear test as a showpiece for a rare congress meeting.
It will host a Workers' Party congress in early May for the first time in 36 years.
South Korean experts say it's unlikely the north has a submarine large enough to fire more than one missile at a time.
But they agree that Kim Jong-un's bonkers country is making worrying progress with its dangerous weapons.
The chubby leader recently held his own MasterChef competition while millions of Kim Jong-un's population starve.
