Terrorists attacked a government building in Jammu and Kashmir's Pampore
SRINAGAR: A group of terrorists attacked a government building in Jammu and Kashmir's Pampore this morning, the site of a deadly encounter earlier this year in which three Army para commandos were killed. A soldier has been injured in the attack.
According to police sources, two to three terrorists are believed to be holed up inside the Entrepreneurship Development Institute or EDI campus on the outskirts of Srinagar. The terrorists, sources said, entered the building around 6:30 am and set it on fire to get attention of security forces.
Intermittent firing is being heard from inside the building.
The area has been cordoned off and search operations are underway.
In February, a 48-hour long fierce gunfight took place in the same complex in which seven people including a civilian, three paramilitary commandos of the Army and three terrorists were killed.
The terrorists had used the buildings as a concrete bunker, firing at security personnel from its cover and shifting location often.
The JKEDI complex is situated on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, about 10 kilometres from Srinagar.
